She never got to see that day. On Aug. 28, Sandberg-Wheler, who had Type 1 diabetes, went into a sugar low (hypoglycemia) like she had occasionally over the years. But this time, nothing would bring her out of it. Her husband Cam called an ambulance. She went into a diabetic coma and has never come out. Sandberg-Wheler was 38 at the time.
