The Oakville Beaver, W ednesday M arch 5, 2003 - C3 M&M Meats founder at Big Sister lunch The Excel Leadership Group in support of Oakville Big Sisters presents a conversation Thursday with top entrepreneur Mac Voisin, CEO and founder of M&M Meats. In an interview type format, radio personality Sunni Genesco, will discuss with Voisin his busi ness strategies and success story as well as his philosophy on corporate philanthropy. Challenged by his inability to find restaurant-quality meats to throw on the barbecue at home, Voisin and his associate Mark Nowak set out to create a unique retail venue where people could find choice cuts of meats at super market prices. The challenge was not in find ing the choice cuts of meat, but in being able to sell them at their peak of freshness and flavour. The answer turned out to be relatively simple - flash-freezing, a method of freezing food at extremely low temperatures in a matter of min utes. This method preserves the natural texture and flavour of the food at the moment of freezing. When cooked, all the taste comes through. In 1980, Voisin and Novak plugged in their first freezers and opened M&M Meats. Two years later M&M's first franchise opened in Cambridge. The luncheon runs from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Ramada Inn, 360 Oakville Place Rd. Tickets, including lunch, cost S75.
