Oakville had finished third in the preliminary round with a 6-3 record while the Corner rink finished fourth at 5-4 (winning a fourth place tiebreaker 9-3 over Gary Grant). The John Morris rink finished in second place at 7-2 while the Bryan Cochrane rink finished in first place at 8-1. The other Friday playoff game, under the page playoff format, had Team Cochrane gaining a bye to the Sunday final with a 6-5 win over the Morris rink (which went into Saturday's semifinal). The Comer rink went on to upset John Morris 8-5 in the semifinal game but lost 11-8 in the championship game to Bryan Cochrane. The first-place Cochrane team lost only one game throughout the Nokia Cup, held last week at the Hershcy Centre in Mississauga, ironically in the preliminary round to the Oakville rink. Oakville has two wins and a tie in the bestof-five series. Oakville had to fight back from deficits of 1-0 and 3-1. Eleven players figured in the scoring.
