ARNOLD, Pamela Mary (Hughes), B.A, born in London, England passed away peacefully on April 20, 2014. At 18 she left school and joined the WAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force). She was first a radar operator, then she became a Physical Education Instructor within the Air Force. Married Peter James Arnold and came to Canada in 1945 where they settled in London, Ontario. They then moved to Hamilton and then to Oakville in 1962 where they have been ever since. Pam and Peter have four children, Gillian (Robert), Joanne (Howard), Julia (Richard) and Nancy (Peter) and 8 grandchildren (Michael, Aaron, Thomas, Anna, Sam, Eric, Will and Luke) and 3 great grandchildren (Kathrine, Ethan and Austin). Pam went to Teachers College as well as studying Art History at McMaster University. She secured employment with St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School teaching Art and Phys. Ed. where she worked for 22 years. After retirement, she started Oakville Strokers with Maureen Kahnert to provide a day programme for stroke victims. She ran Oakville Strokers for 17 years and was honoured by the Rotarians with a Paul Harris Fellow Award for her work with this group. She will be dearly missed by family and her many friends.
