Andrews, who is the head of music discipline for Sheridan's Music Theatre Performance Program, said with Oakville's strong history in choral traditions he's hoping local community groups will take the unique opportunity to be part of a creative collaboration between a choral conductor, a choreographer, dancers and an animator in "a wonderfully inspired multi-media performance that fuses a live choir, dance and incredible animation." It will be a 20-minute performance at the international conference called Stage and Screen: The Art of Collaboration in Musical Theatre. It features papers, talks and practical demonstrations designed to bring together leaders to discuss music theatre practices. Andrews said he's hoping to impress everyone with the June 24 performance featuring the choral music of Grammy-winning American composer and conductor Eric Whitacre, including his musical theatre composition, Bliss from Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings. Rehearsals will take place on Mondays, beginning June 9. Interested singers are asked to email him at greg.andrews@sheridancollege. ca or visit the Facebook page http:// on.fb.me/1otlwb6. The season continues with mystery musical Colours in the Storm: The Tom Thomson Musical by Jim Betts from Nov. 6-9 and 12-15. It tells the story of famous Canadian painter Tom Thomson, who mysteriously died in the waters of Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park in 1917. There's been speculation since his death that he may have been murdered. The musical centres around Thomson's struggle to realize his own potential and recognize his own talent. In 2015, the groups will present The Mumberley Inheritance by Warren Graves Feb. 5-8 and 11-14, followed by Game Show by Jeffrey Finn and Bob Watson March 19-22 and 25-28.
