"The senseless loss of life experienced in New Brunswick (Wednesday) night reminds us all of the dangers that police of cers face in trying to ensure the safety of our communities," said a statement issued by Halton police Thursday morning. To allow the public and members of the local police an opportunity to express their sympathy, books of condolence have been placed in the lobby of all Halton Regional Police Service facilities. "As we are reminded every September at the Canadian Police and Peace Of cers' Memorial Service in Ottawa, `They are our heroes. We shall not forget them'," stated the release.
