The 25-year-old Oakville Trafalgar High School graduate told the Oakville Beaver her love for acting grew at an early age, taking part in her elementary school's "starbound camps" and later taking on a number of acting classes in pursuit of her passion. Now, she's exactly where she wants to be, starring in the sitcom Spun Out, which premiered in March on CTV . The workplace comedy airs Fridays at 8 p.m. The Toronto resident, whose family still lives in Bronte, plays Stephanie Lyons, who works at her father's public relations agency DLPR. The show centres around the agency's employees who are great at spinning problems for their clients, but not so much when it comes to their own. No matter how bizarre the cases are that the agency takes on, they pale in comparison to the workplace romances, rivalries, personal successes, and failures of the close-knit and dysfunctional colleagues at DLPR. Dalton, who originally auditioned for the character Abby Hayes before the casting director asked her to read the role for Stephanie, describes her character as an enthusiastic, but vulnerable woman in her mid-20s who isn't taken as seriously as she'd like to be at times. "She's awkward and strange, but she has her heart in the right place," said Dalton, who has appeared in a number of commercials over the past few years, including KFC and Koodo Mobile ads. "She's a real go-getter. She's very determined to win over the clients and she's convinced she's capable of spinning all her problems better than anyone else," she continued. "She has good ideas, but they come to her after a lot of bad ideas. If there's anything I've learned from Stephanie, it's her perseverance. She never gives up and she always has a positive attitude." Before landing the Spun Out role, Dalton appeared in the made-for-TV movie My Babysitter's a Vampire and several television series, including Lost Girl, The Firm and The L.A. Complex. She said she started with commercials and worked from the bottom up in a competitive Not a lot of people, especially actors in Toronto, have the opportunity to work on a sitcom in front of a live studio audience with a comedy legend like Dave Foley. Noting how she's questioned at times whether she was meant to be an actor, she's grateful for where life has led her. "Not a lot of people, especially actors in Toronto, have the opportunity to work on a sitcom in front of a live studio audience with a comedy legend like Dave Foley," she said, noting how it's been an amazing experience that was a little intimidating at first.
