Party halts vote to look into allegations Two women vying for candidacy in new federal riding by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 7 | Wednesday, May 28, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The contentious bid for the Conservative nomination in the new Oakville North-Burlington riding got more complicated last week. The nomination of a candidate has been indefinitely postponed by the Conservative Party of Canada. That after contenders, Oakville chiropractor Natalia Lishchyna and MississaugaBrampton South Conservative MP Eve Adams, squared off in a forum last Wednesday designed to showcase to members why they should get the nomination nod at a vote slated to happen last Saturday. However, after the Conservative Party received complaints by both Lishchyna and Adams that the other side isn't playing by the rules, it called a halt to Saturday's vote. "The Conservative Party believes in upholding the integrity of our nomination process, and apologizes for any inconve- THERE'S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO DESIGN YOUR DREAM AYA KITCHEN Eve Adams nience this may cause," Cory Hann, director of communications for the Conservative Party of Canada said in a statement issued to media Thursday. "The nomination will be rescheduled at a future date after a thorough review has been completed." A new date has yet to be determined. Speaking on behalf of Lishchyna's campaign team, John Mykytyshyn told the Oakville Beaver Tuesday it has submitted complaints to the Conservative Party of Canada. Natalia Lishchyna An email received by the Oakville Beaver Thursday night from Adams' team stated it filed complaints with the CRTC and Elections Canada. Lishchyna's team issued a statement Friday saying she has not broken any CRTC, Conservative Party or Election Canada rules. When the Beaver attempted to reach Lishchyna, Mykytyshyn responded on her behalf. Adams didn't return phone calls and emails for comment left by the Beaver Friday, Monday and Tuesday.
