A boost for the Swim for Mental Health The annual Swim for Mental Health fundraiser will hold a booster event Sunday, May 25. Held at Boston Pizza, 270 North Service Rd. W., from noon-3 p.m., the event will include a speaker, silent auction, door prizes, 50/50 draw and buffet lunch (pizza and salads). Oakville Frank Zamuner founded the swim five years ago as a means to fundraise for local mental health programs after going through the challenge of experiencing and living with depression in the wake of heart surgery. The Oakville resident began the swims during a summer at Brookdale Pool, but a subsequent change of venue to Appleby College increased the involvement of youths in the fundraiser. The event benefits Halton Healthcare Services. For more information on this year's swim, visit www.swimformentalhealth.com. 35 | Thursday, May 15, 2014 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com MS Golf for a Cure tourney is June 18 Dust off the irons and work on that swing -- the 10th annual Halton MS Golf for a Cure Tournament is on June 18. Held at the Crosswinds Golf and Country Club, 6621 Guelph Line, in Burlington, the event benefits the Halton MS Society. The non-profit organization provides various services to its members and their families who have or are affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). All proceeds raised from the charity tournament go to the Halton chapter to help fund client services. The MS Society does not receive any government funding and relies on fundraising initiatives to continue providing its services. Last year's event raised more than $18,000. Organizers are looking for sponsors, prize donors and, of course, golfers. To register for or sponsor the event, visit www. golf4ms.ca or call the MS office at 905-681-8770. $ $ 79 0.99 0 @ /OAC 2014 CIVIC DX NEW LOWER PAYMENT MODEL FB2E2EEX WIN^A CIVIC % APR A WEEK LEASE BI-WEEKLY DOWN PAYMENT FOR 60 MONTHS WITH $0 SECURITY DEPOSIT.
