In the post season, however, they learned just how fast and painful a fall can be. From missing the playoffs last year and squeaking through in eighth place the previ ous year, the Blades exploded, this season, all the way up to a three-way tie for first place with 71 points in the western confer ence of the provincial junior A league. While sporting winning records over the other two first-place teams (the Hamilton Kilty B's and Brampton Capitals) as well as fewer losses, the Blades ended up on the short end of the sticK in the tiebreaker for mula (based on most wins), settling for third place, and drawing the Georgetown Raiders. Sure, Georgetown were the sixth-place team, but they boasted a winning record and were solidly in the western conference's sec ond tier of teams with 52 points, just behind Milton (5th) at 54 points and Bramalea (4th) at 55 points. The Rangers will now compete in a league playoff in a round-robin format. The young AAA Rangers were seeded fifth overall entering the play offs. Leading the series 2-1. they played at Oakville Arena with a chance to clinch against the fourth-seeded Hurricanes. Halton Hills came out quickly and took the play away, build ing a 4-0 lead before Kevin Rolczewski scored from M atthew Wood early in the third. The comeback was short-lived as the Hills came alive with two more goals before Patrick Griffin netted the final tally from Rolczewski and Braedon Russell with time winding down.
