Mahoney wins four events at Hickson swim meet Connor Mahoney won four events to lead the Oakville Marlins at the Linda Hickson Invitational Special Olympics swim meet last Saturday at the Iroquois Community Centre. Mahoney took first place in the 25-metre, 50m and 100m freestyle and capped his day by taking the 50m butterfly. The Marlins enjoyed a successful meet with four swimmers winning three events in their age group. Lexie Senior showed her diversity with wins in three different strokes, the 50m freestyle, the 25m breaststroke and the 25m butterfly. That was when Canadian George S. Lyon was presented with the last gold medal as golf champion at the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis, Mo. In addition to the medals, trophies were presented. The trophy presented to Lyon will be on display this Sunday when the Golf Historical Society of Canada hosts its annual auction at the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum at Glen Abbey Golf Club. Museum guests are admitted free on Sunday starting at 10 a.m., with the auction set for 2 p.m. The society is inviting anyone with golf memorabilia to bring it to the museum for appraisal and, if they wish, have it included in the auction.
