Oakville's Sixteen Mile Sports Complex will be the venue for the OMHA tournament, which begins tomorrow (Friday) morning and concludes Sunday. The Rangers are scheduled to play round-robin games tomorrow at 10 a.m. (Grey-Bruce Highlanders) and 3:30 p.m. (Markham Waxers) as well as Saturday at 10:30 a.m. (Ajax-Pickering Raiders) and 3:30 p.m. (Brampton 45's). There will be no admission charge throughout the tournament. Oakville lost the SCTA final in heartbreaking fashion Sunday in Owen Sound, dropping a 3-2 decision to Grey-Bruce in triple overtime. The Highlanders tied the game late in the third period on a power play and with their goalie on the bench for an extra attacker. Matt Luff scored both Oakville goals. The Rangers, who finished atop the SCTA regular-season standings with a 293-4 record, also fell 3-2 to Grey-Bruce during round-robin play. Oakville's wins came against the St. Catharines Falcons (6-1 and 11-1), Guelph Gryphons (14-1) and Brampton 45's (4-1). Luff recorded hat tricks against Guelph and St. Catharines, finishing the tournament with 12 goals. Blake Levarno also scored three times in the 11-1 win over the Falcons, with Colt Jaime adding his second two-goal game of the tournament. Jack Jeffers and Michael Choma both scored twice against Guelph. Oakville curler helps U of T qualify for CIS championships Oakville's Jack Lindsay and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues will compete in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) men's curling championship March 19-23 in Regina. The White Oaks grad helped U of T win its first Ontario University Athletics title since 2001 with an 8-1 win over Laurier. Toronto led 2-1 before scoring four in the fifth end and then stole two in the sixth to take a commanding lead. U of T won two close playoff matches to reach the final, edging Waterloo 6-5 in the quarter-finals and then beating Brock 7-6 in the semifinal. Lindsay, who plays vice on the Toronto rink, won an Ontario Curling Association bantam title in 2010 and played at the Ontario Winter Games.
