Ex-Reeve of North Grimsby crosses the Great Divide

The citizens of Grimsby and North Grimsby learned with deep regret on Sunday, January 30, of the death at his home in North Grimsby, of William Boies Nelles, at the early age of 45 years. Boies Nelles, as he was popularly known amongst his friends, was born in Grimsby, like his father before him, and lived here all his life, being one of the most highly respected citizens. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. J.W.G. Nelles, and at an early age took charge of his parents' farm, and managed it up to the time of is death, his father being more inclined to clerical work than farming. Although of a quiet and retiring nature, he took an active interest in politics and municipal affairs and for years was an officer of the Township and County Conservative Association and in North Grimsby council. In February 1896, he was married to a daughter of the late Major D.F. Allan of Grimsby, and she with two sons and two daughters survive him. The funeral took place on Tuesday, February 1st, to Queen's Lawn Cemetery, and was largely attended. Service at the house and graveside was conducted by the Rev. J. Allan Ballard, Rector of St. Andrew's.
