St. Near Post Ofce. Barrie. N 1V Phone 467w For the first time since 1923, the Province of Ontario is seeking a loan within the Dominion of Canada. Se- curity houses and banks are this week offering to the public an issue of $25,000,000 Province of Ontario bonds, divided into two sections, $20,000,000 of 15-year 51/; per cent. bonds, yielding 5.90 per cent., and $5,000,000 six per cent. bonds to yield six per cent. The money is required for hydro-electric power de- velopment and transmission assistance to rural hyd`ro lines, highway con- struction and other -purposes. These debentures are direct obligations of the province and are payable, princi- pal and interest, out of the consoli- dated revenue fund. The Province of Ontario is the wealthiest and most populous in the Dominion of Canada, and these bonds are the safest invest- ment anyone can make. Consult your bsanker for full information. lg! Phone 213 Market This is oniom week and people are . urged to eat onions in any shape or form. Onions are ,good for health, and the farmers and vegetable grow- ers need a wider market for this luscious root. For this week all ob- jections usually made against the on- 5 ion are withdrawn. It is in times of adversity rather than of prosperity that the true character and strength of men, com- munities and nations is demonstrated. The world learns few lessons when things are booming and prosperity blososms on every hand. It is when the sun is hidden behind the storm clouds and the tempest rages men, communitie tested. At least one truth the world is learning to-day is that no man, no community, no nation can live un- to itself alone. Not one of them is self-suicient. The most important thing for 1932 that operating budgets 1nust be bal- anced. In other words, income, whether personal or corporate, should be coaxed up and expenditures cur- tailed, so that at least a small bal- ance remains on the credit side. Thus the increase of debts will be halted and progress made in paying them off. This should be the objec- tive for the government, the munici-. pality, the corporation and the fam- ily. Prosperity will only return when individuals seriously grapple with their own problems and lay a r solid foundation for their own future. Another important thing is ; to curb the speculative spirit. In the past years investors have been used to high rates of interest, and particularly to spectulative prots, which are ill adapted to present con ditions and the building of a sound future. lmprovement generally de- pends upon the policy of each and every family, corporation and govern- rnnnf THE PROVINCIAL LOAN ment. .__j??j. resolution introduced at the ..+ w.,m+mo- nf Hm town THE NEW WARDEN A Tonic 9f.
