BARRIE c. 1. CADETS ]iTi.g'l1l_\' Complimo11tod By I11s]_)0(-.101`; Eand Best I11 Dist1'i(-T . l Last 'I`hursda_v afternoon the Bar-I rie Collegiate Cadets were inspected by Lt.-Col. M'cCrimmon of the To- ronto Headquarters. The Corps turned out at full strengtli, aboutl 175, and was put through a 1-igicl drill by the comn1:mding' oicers, Major Ross Cowan and Capt. Chos- ter Carson. The corps was in-.ule up of four platoons, a corps of 19 stretcher-bearers and a hand of 35. members. One of the platoons was formed by the corps of signallers, about 30 in all. Afternoon Prog'r:_1mme In the inspection there was hrst the march past, Col. McCrimmon taking -the salute. The corps then opened out for inspection of rifles and personal appearance. Company dril-l followed, during` which the signal corps was posted in squadsl about the park and a message was relayed around the inspection e-Id. Platoon drill and then section drill- under the lieutenants, sargeants and corporals. 'l`he band was then in- spected for its marching, after which Mr. A. Muorrow, trainer of the corps, took charge of the P.T. ex- ercises. The stretcher-bearers were Ialso given an opportun-i;t.y to displa_v their knowledge of first aid. Ex- tended order work and field man- oeuvres were dispensed with for lack l i of time. rzL.\.\L'u \.\:: ,uu.u.~. M... T. Bell. Co. Q..\I.S. R. C. I T .._.. n 1.`...I,. N! `H Complimented by Inspector C01. 1VIcCrimmon complimented the corps at the close of the inspection von the smartness of their appearance and drill. 'Dhe corps, he said, was well turned out, and showed a splen- Llid spirit. Every one was working to do his bit. They were well com- manded and had an excellent band. In fact, he said, the band was the best in the district. Only one other Cadet corps had a band and it was a. Kiltic one. Both the si;:`nal1e1~s and stretcher-bearers were good. ' It would be unfair to the corps to ex- pect to nd it as smart as some others in the larger centres, which had been training: all winter, and would not be inspected for two orl three weeks to come. Because of its northerly situation the Barrie Corps had not the same advanta.g'es that many others had, but they deserved (great credit for the showing; made. Presentation of Prizes On Thursday evening the Cadets attended the Grand Opera House en masse for their annual theatre parade. The B.C.I. band furnished -several numbers and a demonstration in First Aid bamlaging was then 'g'iven by the prize winning team of the st1`etchex`-bearers, composed of C-orp. Frank Foster, S. Coutts, A. Watt and F. Shannon. A n I-15,, L_,,_,I L1__.. I101-UL: uuu ;. bullcnnlnnu Principal A. R. Girdwood then spoke briey on the Corps and its inuence. He paid a high tribute to Mr. Morrow, its comimandant, for his tireless work with the boys. Mr. Glirclwood then made the usual pre- sentation of prizes. To Ross Cowan went the cup indicative of the senior championship, while Jos. Looker and Tim Anderton won the 1_ ntermedial te and junior prizes. Lieut.
