At the outset The A(lvanee is not altogether i11 accord with the work done by the Board of Education. In several issues, at the time the Board got down to Work on the re- bnilding_>' scheme, the su5_:gestion for a new building: on :1 central site were niade, elaiiiiing; that to restore the old l)uildin;:' would eost as much. when ever_vthir._;:' was eompleted, as would a new building` up town. In the lirst place, the _::i\'en cost of re-building on the old site does not include improved fire protection for the school, which will cost. at least $10,000. It will be absolute folly to re-build in the east end unless improved re pro- teetion is provided. In the second place we do not consider the site commit- tee made investi;=ation as full as necessary i11to other sites. In the third plaee full particulars as to `the plans of unsuec-e.~:sl'ul areliiteets and all tender prices should be g'i\'en 4;-'i\'en in tho, estimated cost of the building: on the Harvey site lll('ll1(lll1]J_` the property ol the late Dr. McLeod.
