His Honor Judge Ardagh occupied the chair and ad- dressed those present. Onereason, he said, why he wished to be identied with the so- ciety was that his father had been the first chairman of the Barrie Branch and had oc- cupied the same position at the time of his death. Among other things he alluded to the unavoidable absence of'Mr. James Ed- wards andmade a feeling reference to the Rev. The report referred to_,the foreign work and in the provincial society reference _` was made to_the death of several prominent oicers. One of .them Ignatius Oockshutt was Treasurer of the Brantford Societv for 60 years and the Hon. Senator G. W. Allen President of Provincial Society for 42 years. Speaking of the late Dr.'Harper, the report said :- . A, distinguished scholar and divine. a cosmopolitan preacher. because he loved and was on good terms with all branches of the Christian Church, Rev. Dr. Harper as one of the old pioneers, will be missed through- the whole country, but especially in Barrie where he lived and labored for `years and would have liked to end his days. Rev.
