Although many years have passed since some of usleft the home of our child- hood, yet to all of us where father and mother are seems alwavs home.` The. kindest memories of you, dear father and mother, remain in the hearts of your children. We now know. better than in younger days, and I can appreciate more fully. your never-faltering love and care for us and your self-denying labors for our welfare. All that you have done for us we can never forget, nor can we ever repay. We know that in temporal things we must ever remain your debtors ; and while this is true of temporal things it is with even _ greater force a true of sniritul things. .In childhood s years you ever taught us by precept and example the great `Christian truths, which are, we trust, be- coming more and more precious to us as the years go by. Your lives of self~denial and right living,'with the love and affection you have ever shown towards us, have been as a `light guiding our steps through life and sav- ing from many evils and temptations that have crossed our paths. And now dear Father and Mother. we ask you to accept these easy chairs, not tor their intrinsic value, but that when you rest in them you may have sweet memories of us, your child- ren. We pray that God may spare you to each other and to us, your children. for many years to come, and that in the great future, when life for us all here has ended, our Heavenly Father, through His Son, our Savior, will receive us as an unbroken family there to dwell- with Him forever and ever. Commencing EQDAY, DEC. 30 A despatch from Orangeville "last week ' said that the anniversary services of Orange- ville Methodist Church were of a most suc- cessful character. At the request of the Quarterly Board. the pastor, Rev. T. E. Bartlev, preached morning and evening. On behalf of the Board. the pastor asked the congregation for $500. The response was even more liberal than` was anticipated, the cash receipts for the day amounting to $743.25. In addition, `several subscriptions, payable in a few weeks, were received. Through the instrumentality of Rev. Mr._ Bartley, the Methodists of Oranceville bid fair to engov the experience of his recent pastorate in Collier Street Methodist Church, Barrie, where Mr. Bartley s perseverance resulted in wiping out a $5,000 church debt , of -thirty-hve years standing.
