Last Tuesday the herdvof cattle belonging to one of the farmers in - that section, Mr. J. `Presser, _were `inoculated with anti- toxine lymph, and on Friday they'be- gan to die off in large numbers. Dr. W. H. Craig, V.S., of `Cornwall, was sent for and made a post mortem exam- inationoi the carcasses, which showed plainly that anthrax germs. were pre- sent in `large numbers. Dr. Craig thinks that there may have been some- thing wrong with the particular bottle of lymph out of which this herd was inoculated, . as other cattle inoculated out of a di'erent bottle on the same day showed noill effects. Sixteeaoi Mr. Prosser s cows have died, and the matter has been reported to the Gov- ernment, and] an inquiry will likely be made into the matter.` now THE FALL WAISTS WILL ism Separate waists of cashmere, `alba- tross, vivella, and Scotch and French annel will be worn this autumn. The colors _most used will be bright and dark red, tan, the light. dark and French blues, gray, pink, and dark and iada green. Buttons of steel, gilt, and white and smoked pearl will he used on the new waists, which are made with plain acks, long shoulder seamsand. stitch or tucked fronts with long- waisted and slightly hloused effect. The latest sleeve is a Bishop shape with a trile more fulness in the top than thatof last year.
