He was the son of pious parents. who set before him an example worthy of imitation`; and through home and `church inuences he was led to give himself to God at the age of sixteen. He at that time joined thelcburch, and became "an, active worker therein. Some of. the papers he prepared and read on differ ent subjects at the League gave evi- dence of more than average mental ability, and that ability was placed on the altar tor service. He was prepar- ing for the active work of the ministry when taken down with typhoid fever, and after a few days of sickness, in September 28, 1899, God translated him in the full triumphs of faith from the service of the church on/earth to the church triumphant. Robert was an exemplary young man, pure in thought, word and act. In the home he was a comfort to father and mother, and a beautiful example to brothers and sisters. Is the church he was loved and esteemed -by young and old. His life was short, but he lived to purpose, and his life Inuence is still fragrant with blessing in the circle in which he moved. His death brought sorrow to the hearts of parents, and as far as we can see, at present. a great loss to the church. .But"the Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord.
