B. Appleton had Mr. J. M. B. Stephens up on a charge of harboring an estrav pow and selling her without advertising the animal as the statutesand the township by-law directs. Lawyer Fraser appeared for the prose- cutor and Mg. Stephens looked after his own case. Mr. Stephens protested his innocence, but `did not call any witnesses and refused to-testity in his own behalf. The cow is alleged to have strayed` into Mr. Stephen's premises a year ago last September,` and he has since sold her to Mr. Ross. No .-one, save Mr. Stephens, has as yet claimed the cow. .
