Williams was committed for trial by Magis- trate Bell on the following charge :- `|'FlnaI '1-iurnvri `VI';nrna (`:11 nu I-kn Inf}: St George s Parish.--The old Methodist church was lled with `an audience drawn there to witness acantata that the scholars of St George s 8 school rendered in a man-'5 ner that could not but please every person present. The children that did not take part in the cantata were determined that nothing should be-done by them that wotgld detract in the least from the performance, and so they kept-perfectly orderly. The cantata entitled the Wonderful Christmas Tree, had only.been previously attempted by large Sunday schoo's in cities,it was therefore no small undertaking to place the cantata before an audience in ,Al3andale._ However from beginning to endunot the least mistake was made by any of the per- formers. and no prompting was necessary; Miss Gracie Little took` the leading part, which requireda large amgunt of memoriz- ing, and so thoroughly hadshe mastered her part that she acquitted herself perfectly. Mercer Marin did his part admirably. Master Charlie Gibson. as Puck-, surpris- ed everyone by his almost faultless acting. Master Charlie Moore, as Funny Man, did well. Miss A ice and Master Harry Wilson, respectively. as Queen and King. of the fairies. moved on the stage with the grace and dignity thatgwell became their exalted position. Miss Lena Collins as Queen of the night, looked and acted charmingly. The chorus singers cou'd not be surpassed. Miss Mary Storey made a beautiful grandmother. Mr. C. 1 . Little. as entertainer of this most august company, made a superior host. The , fairies with their sweet innocent"faces and lovely dresses with silver wi gs, gave one an idea of how beautiful fairy- and must be, where such lovely creatures could come from. The " busy bees sustained their part with `great credit to themselves. When one llistened to the whole cantata and realized that the perfect manner in which it was ex- ecuted, was due entirely to the ability and untiring patience of two young ladies, one of whom, Miss Wilson, as-directress,-and the other, Miss Westney, as accompanist, one feels that too much praise cannot be 5 given to these ladies.
