UDLLIUI The plowmen dined from four to six o clock, after which the prizes were given out by Messrs. Rod. McConkey, Secretary; Alex. Duncan, Assistant Secretary ; and Wm. Patterson, Trea- surer. Speeches were then givenvby Col. Tyrwhitt, M.P.; E. A. Little, M.P.P.; and Mr. John Ross, County Councillor. These gentlemen congratu- lated the society on its growing pros- perity and the plowinen on the excel- lent work done. Particular reference was made to 0. Bennett, sr.., a veteran plowman, who had not ploughed in a match for twenty-ve years, and yet hustled the younger men. From the work done that day by the boys, the speakers propheaied, grand plowmen for the future, Chester McC'onkey, a young boy, swept the held, winning the special prize for the best work instubble. The competition was keen, yet the best of good feeling prevailed. The remark was heard that the old men. decorated their horses, while the young men dc-_ corated themselves. lIIIII.v .;;;.i;;:7,; _ % throughJI6ro onj ling"-'t4_: dump.` A V- p 7th oonoeqgoq, A .I_..._., II._._..__...
