Arbor Day. l The rst Friday in May is Arbor Day. This year the weather on that interesting I day was all that could be desired, and in- ` vited teachers and pupils into the open air. The teachers and pupils of the Public schools in town assembled at the east ward school grounds, where 55 healthy and robust young maples awaited planting The Union Jack was run up to the strains of God Save the Queen, and then all hands, in- ` eluding Trustees Jas. Ball, Cross`, Hunter 2 and Reid, and some representatives from the Collegiate set to work at. tree- lanting. This work being done at 4 o clocE, every person was invited into the school where was served a luncheon provided by the vari.- A ous children of the town, and especially by the good ladies of the east end_.
