'rhe'nne-c an lay of (mum and Silver- ware In the unty on Saturday at china Hall. A Terrible ratauty. , Last Friday morning, Mr. James A McKee, an employee of the Singer Sewing Machine (30,, was fatally injured at the Tollendal crossing of the Northern Railway. The un- fortunate man left Barrie about 11 'o clock that morning with a horse and wagon in the pursuit of his business, and by some means .as he neared the crossing which is an ex- ceedingly dangerous one, by reason of the conformation of `the land near it preventing the sight of a train coming from the south by a personapproaching the crossing. and often of hearing the whistle. coming north struck the horse that Mr. Mc- Kee was driving, killing it instantly, and shivering the vehicle into a thousand pieces, and the man was struck and his right arm shattered and his ribs were comminuted. Hewas picked up and brought in an express van to Barrie, but died shortly after arriv- ing here. He was quite conscious and asked the doctor if he thought there was any hope for him, but in a few minutes he sank away. He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his sudden and terrible death. The widow is the daughter of Mr. Davis, of the Examiner. The -deepest sympathy of the community oes out to the bereaved widow, children an other relatives. mLo`I1mnhn` I-nnlr -nlnnn `Frnvn Y-lwn The express U .- -..... air. mN'r1Na,. - Clerkiof the Municipality of Essa. mgfited at Cookstown this 22nd day og4%g1gust. Whit- taker and Davidson vs. David Powell, the latter having won the toss elected to bat, running the score of 4 runs, his opponents only making three, Powell thus winnin the match by 1 run. The chief feature 0 the ame was the bowling of Whittaker and owell, both of whom were on the wicket all the time. The scores all round were good considering the excellence of the bowling. A large gathering of ' people witnessed the game, and judging from the loud cheering and frequent applause the game was highly appreciated. Another match was xed for next Wednesday.
