Cooper who was going on an excursion that day left his well stocked basket on the wharf for a. few min- -utes while looking after some business mat ters, and when he was ready to go on the boat his basket had disappeared. In the basket, along with the provisions, was a large teapot and his name was plainly written on the basket. Mr. Cooper very naturally thought some one had played a practical joke on him or else that the basket had been taken on board the boat by mistake. But it was not there. On Saturday the basket `was returned by a person living at Kempen- feldt who had taken it up the lake some- where to his camping ground, but all the food had disappeared. Mr. Cooper objected to thatstyle 0 doing business and on Mon- day` the party took him a basket of similar provisions, but did it very un~ graciously, saying Mr. Cooper had no right to put his basket on the wharf while his was there. Mr. Coo er thinks it was a curious mistake to ta. e the basket and a. funny doctrine to claim the sole right to the | Wharf.
