IC '_- N A .o 1-: I p x 9\IIJ$llII\I \'\IQ\v'I VTVIVQIS Mr. Strathy, manager of the Bank of Toronto in Barrie, has done a sensible thing in offering prizes for correct spell- ing to pupils of rural schools in the county of Simcoe. There are to be four prizes; 1st of $20 cash or a gold medal. to children of twelve years or less ; then, let, $25 cash `or a gold medal, and 2nd of $10, cash or a silver medal, to older pupils, for the most correct spelling; examinations to be held in Barrie during the Easter holidays and the {competitions to be in writing. There is far more utility in this sort of emulation among young people than in the time-wasting and 3 brain-twisting schemes which o'er you a ; trip to Alaska if you puzzle out a Bible conundrum. or some nickel~plated sh- -spear if you make more words than your neighbor does out of a certain group of letters. Good spelling isa desirable ac- lcsmplishment. and one often neglected. W l113WI&Chd, she cried for Castoria. Whenshalpamemigs,--ghoolunio Outorla. Bil Old Flock Wants Him Back.
