Al- though the roads were so filled in with snow and the weather so unfavorable the people. as usual. encouraged the pupils efforts by a splendid attendance. Jamieson's Hall was beautifully decorated yvith many shields, flags and hunt- DE. . Thomas Dawes. gave a short address commenting` on the value of such an entertainment and the wisdom at this time of it being patriotic in character. Attended Hostess House Event Several of the volunteer workers from here. who helped in the Y.W. C.A. Hostess House at Camp Bor- den last summer. attended the of- ficial opening of their new winter quarters on Wednesday last. They were invited to go and inspect. the new buildings before lunch. At. 2 p.m. the official opening took place with Mrs. Fell as chairman. Mrs. Agnew. also from Toronto, and president of the National Council of the Y.W.C.A. spoke saying that eleven similar Hostess Houses had been opened across Canada. since the war start-ed. Later she intro- duced General Constmltine who officially declared the Camp Bor- den winter quarters open. After this Miss Louise Gates. secretary of the National Council. gave a lot of valuable information about the grand work the Y.W.C.A. is doing which has been established for 70 years.
