It is now felt that there `are sufficient softball players to organize a strong lea- gue and provide a most interest- ing schedule. A` proposal is on foot to organ- ize softball this summer in Barrie along similar lines to those of the Town Hockey League, which had a very successful season this past winter. The same men who spon- sored hockey are behind softball and: have called a meeting for Wednesday, May 2, in the Police Court Chambers, at 8 p.m., to dis- cuss the matter and possibly or-. ganize. .I_.nLI._II 1, , ,,_,, I, _,,, ,1 ; 0| ,1 VUHIIII U]. 1.2 'on the secon before June gregate in 1 $200,000. `SOFTBALL BOOSTERS CALL A MEETING Ratepayers will receive their annual tax notices in the course ~ of a few days, an augmented staff being engaged at the Town -Clerk's office at the present time making them out. Yesterday `Chief of Police tstewart and Provincial Constable Law visited `Camp Bor- den and arrested Cyril Jacks-on Harrington. They also recovered two auto tires stolen from a car near Centra-1 `Church last Sunday evening. It is stated Harrington has admitted his guilt. He appear- ed: before Magistrate Jeffs last evening and was remanded to jail until Friday. LUUUIVU Ullo In the evening he chose his text from John 1: I write unto young men because you are strong and the word abideth in you and ye have overcome the wicked one. The minister's address had to do with the value of the word of God and he urged young women and young men to treasure it up in their minds and to hide the word in their hearts. The value of self control was particularly stressed. The music was in keeping with the [occasion at all services.
