Peewee AEs faced Hespeler last Saturday night, backstopped by Matthew Adkins in net. AP player Jake Case opened the scoring in the first period with a nice feed from Torin Martin and Cian Daumas. Hespeler came back early in the second period to tie it up, but the Tanners Peewee Tanners take two wins pulled away. Ryan McCaskill and Chase Thomas had another solid night keeping Hespeler to one goal. Victor Montini put in a goal with help from Luke Meihm and Parker Jones. Hunter McCauley got his first of the year with a scramble in front of the net, assisted by Parker Jones again. The last period saw Ethan Constable put a booming slap shot from the point for a 4- 1 win. After a tough loss in Oakville, the Peewee AE's bounced back at home facing the Arthur Vipers. A tight first period saw no goals scored against Matt Adkins. A pass from Cian Daumas up the middle, was kicked up by Brian Secord to Torin Martin who put in the first goal of the night. Arthur tied the game up a few moments later after some penalty trouble by the Tanners. The defensive team including Jacob, Ryan and Chase worked hard to keep the Vipers at bay. Tayden Bachert passed to Luke Meihm who fired in a shot close range took the Tanners ahead for the night. A third period scramble around the net by Secord and Meihm helped Cian Daumas stuff goal in to give the Peewee AEs the 3-1 win. Stoney Creek scored mid-way through the first, but Daniel Nascimento tied it up from Jack Kennedy and Devon Muise. As the first period was coming to an end, Jakob Cunningham picked up a loose puck and buried one to give Acton the lead but it was short lived as the Jr. Warriors scored early in second to tie things up at two. Nic Jones then took a Nascimento pass and hit the back of the net to give the Tanners the lead once. Stoney Creek tied the score at three and early in the third they went up 4-3. Nascimento and Kennedy set up Jon Bydevaate, who scored to tie the game at four. With the Tanners short handed late in the game, Jack Coulighan made some great saves, and Declan Harrison was strong defensively to preserve the tie. Acton hosted the Oakville Rangers and the Rangers came out flying, Acton could not find the scoreboard in the first period and Oakville could only manage one goal due to the fine defensive play of Josh Hamilton and Ben Gray. Jones scored an unassisted marker early in the second to tie things up. The Rangers scored three straight goals before Kyle MacDonald sent Michael Holmes in on a breakaway and scored to close the gap to 4-2. Oakville scored early in the third to go 5-2. Muise and Nascimento scored a minute apart to get the Tanners within one, earning assists were Jones and Bydevaate. With under a minute to play, Acton pulled their goalie in exchange for an extra attacker and had a couple of good scoring chances before the Rangers scored an empty netter which gave them a 6-4 win. The Peewee BB Tanners play home games on Tuesday nights at the Acton Arena. Atom BB Tanners battle for first place The TRENDZ/Dufferin Aggregate Atom BB Tanners played teams at both the top and the bottom of the standings on the weekend. Saturday, last place Stoney Creek came to town and after scoring first, the Tanners scored 12 straight goals to win 12-1. The game featured most of the Acton defence getting a chance to play forward and some forwards playing defence. Scoring for the Tanners were Spencer Booth (3G 1A), Brady Worthman (3G), Brett Hilts (2G 4A). Stuart Macdonald (1G 2A), Jackson Phillips (1G 1A), Nolan Cree (1G 1A), Eric Marrows (1G 1A), Gabe Rowsell (3A), and Roberto Ferraiolli (2A). Single assists went to Zach Booth, Zach Knight, Tristan Wight and goalie Connor Brearley. Matthew Lantz got the start on Sunday in Oakville with the winner staying atop the standings. Lantz had another shutout going for two periods; Spencer Booth gave the Tanners a 2-0 lead before some bad bounces in the third allowed Oakville to tie. Brandon Hatt scored with three minutes to go, to give Acton the lead, but a late goal by Oakville left the game tied 3-3. Assists went to Tyler Bartels, Zach Booth, Cree and Marrows. The Atom BB Tanners next home game is Saturday at 6:40 p.m., against Flamborough.
