Mr. John Lavery, a former resident of Caistor and well known in Grimsby and vicinity, passed away in Toronto on Thursday of last week. The remains were brought to Grimsby and the funeral took place on Saturday morning from the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. Andrew Swayzie [sic], Elm Street, to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, where service was held by the Rev. Father Fraser, then to Queen's Lawn Cemetery where interment took place. Mr. John Lavery was a resident of Caistor, although he spent a large part of his life in California. He was a brother of Mr. Patrick Lavery, well known throughout the county, and who is at the present time treasurer of the Township of Caistor. The deceased had reached the age of 74. He is survived by one brother, Patrick, of Caistor, and two daughters, Mrs. Andrew Swayzie [sic] and Mrs. H.H. Marsh, Grimsby.
