House league Avs win rep tournament The Oakville Avalanche minor bantam minor development team (pictured, left) recently accomplished the rare feat of being a house league hockey team to win a rep tournament title. The Avalanche went 3-1-1 at the recent Canadian Tire Classic in Barrie, locking up the gold with a 3-1 win over the Waterloo Ice Wolves in the final. Oakville overcame a slow start to the tournament -- tying Oakridge Aeros 4-4 and losing 3-1 to the Milton Winterhawks in its first two games -- to down the Oshawa Minor Generals 4-2 and Winterhawks 3-0 and earn a spot in the championship game.
