FACEY, Oliver - (June 14, 1925 - February 1, 2014) - Oliver Facey died peacefully at Nithview Community, New Hamburg on February 1, 2014 in his 89th year. He will be reunited with his son Tim (2001), his parents Mervin & Laura (Bean) Facey, his sisters Florence (Fraser) McMillan, Irene (Glen) Schiedel, as well as his father and mother-in-law, Reuben & Mary (Reuber) Bruegeman. Oliver is survived by his loving wife Norma (Bruegeman) Facey to whom he was married for 63 years; his daughters Laura (Paul) McPhee, Mary Lou (Doug) Legare, his son Dave (Sandy Malecki) Facey; his 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren Chris (Amie) McPhee & children Leah and Ethan, Jeff (Jamie) McPhee & children Payton and Carter, Breanne, Luke & Katelyn Facey, Sarah & Mitch Facey, Andrew & Joshua Legare. Remembered by a number nieces and nephews. Oliver was very involved in the United Church including both London Conference and Oxford County Young Peoples. He enjoyed sharing his musical talents singing in various church and community choirs as well as singing duets with his wife Norma. Oliver participated in numerous community organizations including Waterloo County Junior Farmers, Oxford County Holstein Breeders and the Soil and Crop Association. For over 30 years Oliver was a Director with South Easthope Mutual Farmers Insurance Company serving as President for 2 terms. He was a successful farmer who took pride in his herd of Holstein cattle, his machinery, and in working his fields (with the latest model tractor!). Above all Oliver will be remembered for his quick wit, his one-liners, his hearty laugh, and his devotion to his wife and family. Family and friends will be received at the MARK JUTZI FUNERAL HOME , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Wednesday February 5, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday February 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Church, New Hamburg with Pastor Louise Rutledge and Pastor Joan Bergy officiating. Interment in Bethel Cemetery, Wilmot Township. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Canada or Wilmot Family Resources.
