As of September, the Halton Catholic board has been offering an optional early French immersion pilot program starting in Grade 1 at four school sites across the region. Information sessions have been scheduled at each of the four sites: · Oakville: Monday, Nov. 25 -- St. Mary School, 2175 Colonel William Pkwy. · Milton: Tuesday, Nov. 26 -- St. Peter School, 137 Dixon Dr. · Georgetown: Monday, Dec. 2 -- St. Brigid School, 73 Miller Dr. · Burlington: Monday, Dec. 9 -- Sacred Heart of Jesus School, 2222 Country Club Dr. All presentations begin at 7 p.m. Online registrations for the 2014 Grade 1 Early French Immersion Pilot Program take place Jan. 14, 2014. Students must be entering Grade 1 in September 2014 in order to be eligible to participate. Space is limited and registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Details about the online registration process will be provided at the information sessions. Regional Council Notice of Front-ending Agreement Under the Development Charges Act, 1997 TAKE NOTICE THAT on the 13th day of November, 2013, The Regional Municipality of Halton entered into a front-ending agreement (the "Agreement') with a number of landowners in the Region. AND TAKE NOTICE THAT any owner of land within the Region may make an objection to the Agreement by filing with the Clerk of The Regional Municipality of Halton on or before 4:30 p.m. on December 23, 2013, at the address shown below, or by email to the email address shown below, a notice of objection setting out the objection to the Agreement and the reasons supporting the objection. The Agreement provides funding for the construction of works for the benefit of development within the whole of the Region. The water and wastewater and roads projects that constitute the works are set out in Schedule "C" to the Agreement. Any owner of land within the Region developing its land for residential purposes will be required to make payments beginning January 1, 2017 pursuant to the Agreement. This payment is estimated at approximately $10,000 per single detached equivalent unit, which includes an annual interest rate of 6% compounded semi-annually. Enhanced community emergency notification service launched On November 1, Halton Region rolled out an enhanced emergency notification service. The Region now has access to an improved database, enabling us to reach more than 95 per cent of Halton residents with traditional land line telephone service, in the event of an emergency. As one of the first Canadian municipalities to have access to Bell Canada's 9-1-1 data for use in emergency situations, Halton Region continues to be a leader in delivering community emergency notification services.
