The Hornets defeated the United States' top-ranked bantam-aged girls' team, the Chicago Mission, in the final. The teams played to a 2-2 tie through regulation time and overtime before Oakville prevailed in an 11-round shootout. The Hornets were the only Canadian team to reach the semifinal round, where they downed Detroit's Little Caesars 2-1. Oakville outscored its opponents 15-5 in the competition to earn its third medal in as many tournaments this season. Prior to the Detroit event, Oakville had won a tournament and earned silver at another.
