Andreychuk, Mr. and Mrs. Nick (Anniversary)
- Full Text
Andreychuk is romantic - Nobody can say that Grimsby Mayor Nick Andreychuk isn't romantic. He proposed to his wife, Carol, on Valentine's Day many years ago. "I met Carol at an anniversary party at St. Mary's Hall up on the mountain here in Grimsby," he told us. "One of my cousins said, why don't you dance with Carol." And so he did. Asked whether it was love at first sight,Mayor Andreychuk replied, "Of course it was." "I gave her a ring on Valentine's Day at a dance." They were married on August 27, 1966 and he says it's been a great marriage. "Keep saying yes and provide lots of jewellery, perfume and flowers," he says, giving his tips to help make a marriage long-lasting. The Grimsby Mayor says he enjoys giving his wife roses and taking her out for dinner. He says they'll do something special on Valentine's Day, although he wasn't sure what it would be when we asked him. And he told us his wife likes to give him things as well. "She tells me she's got something picked out for me," he said.
