JULY 25th, 1946 r 1 Displaying a form that promises to carry them to the champion- ship of the Darlington Football League, the Hampton team, on home grounds Saturday evening, whitewashed the Bowmanville eleven 5-0. It was Hampton al the way wlth the fast forwards, Ayre brothers and Broome bro- thers footing rings around their opponents. Bowmanville was clearly disorganized and late changes were of no avail. It was a dlean game ail the way ably refereed by Tom Baker, So- lina. Hampton booted in four goals in the first haîf with Boyd Ayre getting the first shortly af- ter the kickoff and the two Broome brothers accounting for the other three in good passing and neat combination plays. Bow- manville recovered aplomb in the second haîf but failed to score while Broome again countered in late minutes of play. The great crowd persent coni. ceded the contest to be just about the best of the season and wagers were heard that Hampton would take the cup in the finals.
