It is a complete and comprehensive document co- vering the churches of the circuit, Hampton, Eldad and Zion. Mercer. Work is now commenced on Brimacombe's hill. We hope the new county engineer can figure some way to prevent the severe washing out of this hill, as has, been occurring for some years. These last few weeks have been extremely busy ones on these new tobacco farms. They have now their greenhouses built, stea- ming done and the planting of the seed is in progress. A park meeting was held in the Orange hall recently. The new officers are: President, Roy Sleep; vice-president, Roy Mercer; sec- retary-treasurer, Mrs. Mary, Lux- on. The fol- lowing Saturday the appearance of the park was much improved when Roy Sleep organized a bee to trim up the trees. The Kendal boys are anxious to get up a hard ball team for this summer and need the help of all the ball fans. Eleanor Johnston entertained a few of her friends on her birth- day, Saturday evening. Mrs. Beigh- ton has been confined to bed over 20 years and this was the occa- sion of her birthday. The W.M.S. met Tuesday after- noon. After a short business per- iod two quilts were quilted. The Trail Rangers are continu- ing to have fine times each Thurs- day evening at seven, under the leadership of the pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Tompkins, Ralph and Ray of Canton, have moved onto the Cecil Walker farm now owned by Bruce Elliott. Ralph began school here Monday. Maple Grove The April meeting of the West Durham Maple Grove Women's Institute was held Monday ev- ening at the home of Mrs. H. Wright, with an attendance of about 40. With Mrs. L. C. Snowden, pre- sident, in the chair, the business was conducted after which Mrs. S. E. Werry, district president, spoke to the ladies, giving them an outline of the work in general and making some worthwhile sug- gestions. Mrs. L. White and Mrs. E. Twist favored with a duet and Mrs. J. D. Stevens read a paper on home economics, both of which were well received. Mrs. Wright's group served refreshments, thus bringing to a close a very pleas- ant and profitable evening. The many friends of Mrs. Lloyd Crago will be pleased to know she is doing as well as can be ex- pected after her recent operation in Bowmanville Hospital. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Ross Page to our community. Mr. Page is working for Mr. Ross Stevens, and lives in west half of the house beside Mr. and Mrs. Morley Flintoff. Mrs. A. Trenouth who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. A. Chan- nelar and other friends in Hamp- ton, is spending a few days with her granddaughter, Mrs. Bruce Stevenson, Oshawa. • Mr. and Mrs. John Brick, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Rook, Mrs. Willard Stevens, Toronto, recently visited Mrs. F. Swallow. Mr. and Mrs. Roy McIntyre, Toronto, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ken Summersford. Miss Pearl Collacutt spent Sat- urday in Toronto with her cousin, Mrs. Irwin Warder, also with her sister, Lenore. Miss Lenore Collacutt, Toronto Normal, spent Sunday at home. The Courtice Brotherhood held its final meeting on Friday even- ing last at Maple Grove when a large number were present to greet and hear a former and pop- ular pastor, Rev. W. C. Smith of Port Perry who was guest speak- er. Mr. Smith gave a very in- teresting and inspiring address on a "New World-A Confusion of Values." The musical numbers contributed by Mr. Orville Os- borne, Mr. Ross Metcalf, with Mr. Leslie Collacut' and Mr. Work- man as accompanists, was appre- ciated by the audience. There was a good congregation out on Sunday for quarterly ser- vice and reception service when a number of young people were re- ceived into the church. , Wedding BUCKLEY-DUDLEY Trinity United Church was the scene of a quiet afternoon wed- ding on Saturday, April 6, 1946, when Doris Lilian, second daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Dudley, Bowmanville, and William War- ner Buckley, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Buckley, Sutton West, were united in marriage by Rev. J. E. Griffith. The bride wore a dressmaker suit of teal blue with matching hat, white accessories, and corsage of red roses and white sweet peas. She was attended by her sister, Mrs. J. B. Kilpatrick, Belleville, who chose a fuchsia wool dress- maker suit with black velvet trim, black accessories, and corsage of vari-colored carnations and white sweêt peas. Mr. John Buckley, Peterboro, was best man for his brother. After their wedding trip to western points the happy couple will reside at Peterboro where the groom.assumes a position fol- lowing service with the R.C.A. S.C. overseas.
