WEDDING FATHER AND SON KILLED 1 IN MOTOR ACCIDENTI Another Son Hsd a Mfiraculoua Es- cape With Slight Injurlea Hughi Conners, proprietor of Con- ners Transport Go., Bowrnanville, was instantly killed and his father Thos. Gonners, 292 Celina St., Osh- awa, died in Bowznanville Hospital early Monday morning as a result of a motor accIdent which occured about 4 o'clock Sunday morning at the eastern limits of this tow-. on the Provincial Highway and directly opposite Gream of Blarley Tourist Camp. William Connexe, brother of Hugh who drove the car was a passenger in the fatal auto at the time and escaped with only minor bruises and cuts about the face. The Conners were returning from Oshawa, and were driving a seven passenger Studebaker tourihg car. It is thought Hugh mistok the ont- side railing of the sidewalk for the pillar of the bridge, and when realiz- nghis mistake gave the steering 1.heel a sharp turn which landed his car head -on into the bridge. Judging fi-cm marks on the. bridge sud road it is estimated the car must have gone thirty feet into the air 'bofor. land- ing on the opposite side of the road. The body of the car was separated completely freen the chasais, seats and otl~ parts being scattered all over the road. Hughi Conners' lifeless body waa discovered in the ditch about X5 fret ahead of where the engine landed witb the steering wheel by SM. Thomnas Conzters was also lying un- conscious on the road well in asd- vance of the.*car while William was picked up in a dazed condition iii the midst of the shattered au"o parts. Mrs. Brown, matron of the club house at the tourist camp, about 300 yards froin where the asseMent hap- pened, was awakened by -the crash of car against bridge and was the first on the acene of the accident. She immediately notified Dr. A. S. Tilley, coroner, and Dr. B. J. Hazle, wdod, and Ghief Richard Jarvis, who had the patients taken to the hospit- al. William was able to leave the hospital the saine morning, but hi.s father died ab~out 24, hours after be- ing admitted tl e hospital. An inque-st wus heï Monday m.orning wben the body of Hugli Gonners was viewed by the jury which then adjourned to meet Sat- urday, June l2th at 8 p. mn. in the1 Gouncil Booom.
