www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, October 31, 2013 | 14 ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS OF OAKVILLE HYDRO ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION INC. Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. has applied to raise its electricity distribution rates. Learn more. Have your say. Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc. has applied to the Ontario Energy Board to increase the amount it charges by $2.12 each month for the typical residential customer beginning on May 1, 2014. Other customers, including businesses, may be affected as well. THE ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD IS HOLDING A PUBLIC HEARING The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) will hold a public hearing to consider Oakville Hydro's request. We will question the company on its case for a rate increase. We will also hear arguments from individuals and from groups that represent Oakville Hydro's customers. At the end of this hearing, the OEB will decide what, if any, increase will be allowed. Distributors typically apply for a full review of their rates every five years. Any rate changes for the years in between are automatically tied to inflation (and other factors intended to promote efficiency). The OEB is an independent and impartial public agency. We make decisions that serve the public interest. Our goal is to promote a financially viable and efficient energy sector that provides you with reliable energy services at a reasonable cost. Hub would seal downtown's future continued from p.12 library and gallery's current and future space needs, and interests and needs of the downtown business community," said Clohecy. Clohecy also said the downtown cultural hub is one of two major projects the Town has underway that will help determine the future of the core area. The second project, a transportation and streetscape study led by the Town's Director of Engineering and Construction Dan Cozzi, will look at mobility, streetscape and parking in the downtown district. "These two studies will enhance our longterm vision for a vibrant downtown," said Burton. "The Town is linking these projects together throughout the engagement process to make it easy and convenient for the public to get involved and help create a downtown cultural hub that will be the centerpiece of our Vision 2057 community framework." The Town plans to officially kick off these two projects at an event scheduled to take place at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts on Dec. 5. For more information, visit www.oakville. ca.
