The Six Nations Indians here will boycott the June 11 Ontario election.
William Smith, assistant secretary to the Six Nations Confederacy said this afternoon: "We never have anything to do with with a provincial election."
The only people on the reserve who are likely to be voting will be the missionaries, RCMP, and the hospital staff, he said.
Asked if the Six Nations Indians would be advised not to vote Mr. Anderson said "that won't be necessary."
Mohawks on the Cornwall Island reserve have already decided to boycott the election because they fear that if they vote they will forfeit their dual Canadian-U.S. nationality, lay themselves open to paying income tax and be deprived of the privilege of importing goods duty free from the United States.
The island's tribal council voted to boycott election activities on the island. Enumeration have been politely but firmly escorted to the mainland when they tried to obtain names from voter's lists.
