Library set to celebrate culture and creativity this fall T here are many ways to celebrate the beginning of fall and they're not just limited to Thanksgiving. Tomorrow (Saturday), Oakville Public Library and the Town will celebrate Culture Day by encouraging local residents to immerse themselves in the arts and cultural life of the community. A variety of different hands-on and behindthe-scenes activities for the whole family will be offered at Queen Elizabeth Park Community & Cultural Centre (QEPCCC), including the library-presented `Rhyme Time'. Children's author and entertainer Loris Lesynski will remind participants how much fun it is to recite, rhyme and chant with others; she'll also demonstrate how to write your own family poems. Two free performances will be offered in the Black Box Theatre of QEPCCC starting at 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. -- tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, at the door. Another masterful storyteller, Ashley Spires, will visit the Central Branch on Oct. 7 to delight children with a reading from her famed series Binky the Space Cat. The library is also excited to host its first-ever Family Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contest on Saturday, Oct. 26. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, including: most creative, funniest and spookiest. 13 | Friday, September 27, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Entry forms must be submitted by Friday, Oct. 25.
