It was pointed out the investment would benefit more people than the Oakville Assembly Plant employees since it is estimated every auto job generates up to 10 supporting jobs. Ford Motor Company of Canada Limited President and CEO Dianne Craig also weighed in on the investment announcement. "Ford's investment demonstrates Canada can be competitive in the global market through strategic partnerships," she said. "Working closely with the government and labour, we have secured a bright future for employees at Oakville Assembly." Ford has now invested more than $2 billion in Canada in less than a decade. Hinrichs said Ford's investment would mean its spending on Canadian-made auto parts would increase by approximately $200 million, to a total of nearly $4 billion annually. Work on the transformation at Oakville Assembly is already underway and is expected to be complete by fall 2014.
