Allison Czerny, Thalia Zolis, Erin Murray, Olivia Harwood and Lexi Doherty were all named to the 19-player squad that will compete at a pair of major tournaments this month in Oshawa. Ontario will play in the Turtle Island Festival of Lacrosse July 12-14 and the Canadian National Invitational July 16-17. Both competitions are in conjunction with the 2013 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup and will also feature teams from British Columbia, Alberta, the United Kingdom and Japan. Another Lady Hawks player, Aurora Cordingley, was selected to the U15 provincial team earlier this year. Ontario competed last weekend in the Saratoga Springs Lacrosse Shootout in New York and will also play in the Syracuse University Laxfest Oct. 7. There is also heavy OMLA representation on the Ontario peewee 1 boys' team that will compete in the national championships next month in Whitby. Oakville 11-yearolds Bradley Somers, Ben Doherty and Ryan O'Hara will join 12-year-olds Justin Sykes, Aden Walsh and Bryce Cordingley on the provincial team for the Aug. 4-10 tournament. Pope John Paul II's unbeaten streak began in the 2012 season and continued until Pope John Paul soccer streak began in 2012 the final tournament of the 2013 campaign. The team defeated St. Anthony in the final of the St. Marguerite tournament. The Beaver regrets the errors and any inconvenience they may have caused. At the U17 level, 16-year-old Dalton Follows and 14-year-old Justin Inacio are OMLA players who will play for Ontario at several tournaments throughout the summer, including the national championships Aug. 30Sept. 2 in Quebec. "(We are) pleased to recognize these outstanding athletes for their accomplishment in being selected to a Team Ontario squad," said OMLA president Michael Varanesi. "They are excellent ambassadors of our association and Oakville and (of) the entire Ontario lacrosse community. We are all very proud of them." ONE MONTH MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL!
