The peewees won five of six games at the John McCauley Memorial Tournament in Brampton, including a 5-2 victory over the Mimico Mountaineers in the title game. Members of the peewee team are Owen Sage, Ryan Marshall, Jack Follows, Kyle Kachan, Ryan O'Hara, Bryce Cordingley, Alton McDermott, Tyler Ford, Ben Doherty, Jack Travassos, Curtis Goddard, Kaidan Gilbert, Matthew Hill, Vincent Milantoni, Matthew Wright, Bradley Somers, Michael Jackman, Justin Sykes, Aden Walsh and Michael Hodowany. Troy Cordingley, Bob Sykes and Steve Doherty coach the Hawks, Rob Travassos is the trainer and Heidi Follows is the manager. The bantams went 4-0-1 at the Barry Burman Tournament in Orangeville, defeating the Burlington Chiefs 4-3 in the final. Golfer qualifies for USGA Junior Girls Championship Oakville teen Annika Haynes recently earned a spot in the United States Golf Association's Junior Girls Championship tournament by winning a regional qualifier in New York. Sports Briefs Haynes carded a score of 75 to earn a three-stroke victory over the rest of the 17-player field. The top two players earned entry into the USGA Junior Girls Championship, which is the national championship for junior girls in the United States. More than 1,100 players attempted to qualify for this year's event, which will be held July 22-23 at Sycamore Hills in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The tournament Annika Haynes will feature 36 holes of stroke play. Haynes' younger sister, Alanna, will serve as her caddy during the tournament. Oakville Rangers player going to inline hockey worlds Local resident Cole Buchan will suit up for the Canadian junior men's team at next week's FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships in Anaheim, Calif. Buchan, 16, is one of only two Ontario players on the squad. He has played inline hockey in the Halton Roller Hockey League since the age of eight, and played rep hockey last season for the Oakville minor midget AAA Rangers. One of the Canadian junior men's team's coaches, Andrew Rhodes, also plays in the Halton Roller Hockey League and will suit up for the national senior team at worlds.
