Construction is now just over 25% complete so there is a lot of work still to be done! The award recognizes the successful completion of the three year Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOBTM) program by nurses, physicians and midwives in the Birthing Units at all three of the HHS hospitals. The Recognition Award is given to organizations that meet pre-set criteria in relation to completion of the MOREOBTM module activities as well as criteria for Core Team Functioning. To date only 11 out of 107 participating hospitals across Canada have received the Recognition Award, with HHS accounting for three of these 11 sites. Four Accreditation Canada surveyors spent four days at HHS in May meeting with staff, physicians, volunteers, Board members, community partners and patients and their families. They visited all three of HHS community hospitals. The formal Accreditation report identified effective governance and committed leadership that enable the organization to affect its vision and mission as areas of strength for the organization. Surveyor's comments in the report applauded the efforts of HHS staff, physicians, volunteers and Board members. Accreditation Canada commended HHS for two exceptional organizational practices that demonstrate high quality leadership and service delivery. Leading practices are noteworthy examples of innovative solutions and programs worthy of recognition as organizations strive for excellence.
