Lawyer said client to be `vigorously defended' continued from p.1 short-sleeved shirt and black pants and sporting a shaved head and a cut on his face, was escorted to the prisoner's box where he sat while he heard the court read the charge against him. 3 | Friday, May 24, 2013 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Lawyer addresses media Outside the courthouse, lawyer Thomas Dungey addressed the media and said his client would plead not guilty to the charge of first-degree murder and that Smich would be vigorously defended in court. Smich, who was arrested in the area of Wyecroft Road and Dorval Drive Wednesday morning, is the second person charged in connection to Bosma's death. Dellen Millard, a 27-year-old aviation heir, also faces a charge of first-degree murder. Smich stood before a courtroom packed largely with members of the media who feverishly wrote notes as the proceedings unfolded. Numerous media trucks and cameras also waited outside the courthouse with the hope of interviewing any of the Mark Smich parties involved. During the court proceedings, Deputy Crown Attorney Anthony Leitch said police continue to search for a third suspect. On April 28, Bosma posted his 2007 Dodge Ram pick up for sale on two different websites. On Monday, May 6, a man arranged by telephone to view the truck at Bosma's residence in Ancaster. Test drive At approximately 9:20 p.m., that night Bosma went for a test drive with two young men in his pickup and never returned. Police were notified of Bosma's disappearance immediately by his spouse and an investigation began. Due to the unusual nature of the disappearance the homicide unit took over the case. The investigation revealed that Bosma was murdered; he was taken to a location in Waterloo where his body was burned.
