- Full Text
DAVIS, STAN ARTHURPassed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23rd, in his 84th year at Ian Anderson House hospice in Oakville surrounded by his family. Lovingly remembered by his cherished wife Joan ("Kitty") of 63 years to whom he was deeply devoted. Much loved father of Michael, daughters Elizabeth McDonald (Michael) and Gillian McGhie (John) all of Burlington. Stan was a loving and proud grandfather to Laura and Heather McDonald. Predeceased by his parents Emily and Arthur and sister Hilda. He will also be missed by his cat, Maggie. He leaves behind a circle of friends from his time as an advertising salesman with CHWO radio (later AM 740) in Oakville for more than 25 years (retiring only a year and half ago) and previous time spent with the Burlington Gazette and Toronto Sun newspapers. Born in Enfield, England, Stan was a member of the RAF during the Second World War and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1967. Stan was an avid golfer who had two holes-in-one to his credit (his second at age 81!) and was a passionate Tottenham Hotspurs fan. A 16-year survivor of lung and prostate cancer, Stan participated in the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life's Survivor's Walk. A remembrance of his life will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville, ON. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. service. Donations may be made in his honour to Oakville's Ian Anderson House or the Canadian Cancer Society. A special thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House. Until we meet again, you are forever in our hearts.
