Let's Iook at the bright side in '1 0 if's a new ycar. I bat means renewed hope and optimism. In reality, it just means you have ta put up a new calendar, but don't tell anyone. 1 think we're pre-disposed ta look at the pessimistic side of things. How many times a day do you hear, "Things aren't like they used ta be." I've noticed a few things recently that 1 think are getting better. Every time 1 upgrade my computer, for example, l'in blown away with how much more 1 can do and how much faster 1 can do it. 1 thought my last computer worked just fine, but that was because 1 didn't know any better. Now 1 do. 1 spent some time at a Christmas hockey tournament in Burlington watching my nephew, and 1 was impressed with how much better the parents are than they used ta be. There was far less abuse hurled at the offi- ciais, but when there was, it was often baif- hearted. 'm sure others have different sta- ries, but that's what 1 saw this year and that was the first time since 1 can remember. In Milton, 1 think some of the infrastruc- ture is catching up. Roads are being finished and new facilities are being hult. The new library branch is fabulotns. Milton wiIl never be like it used ta be, but there's no use coin- plaining about it anymore. There are some good things that go along with its expansion. I think TV is getting better, toa. 1 don't necessarily mean the quality of shows, but the ability ta, watch them when you want. Plus, the On Demand features you get with various cable options allows you ta watch a good American cable television series wben- 4 On the loose ever you want, episode by episode. On a personal level, I think older women are looking better. 1 haven't figured out whether thats through the miracle of science or if its just because l'm old myself and bave a different viewpoint. On a nan-personal level, the world is sup- posed ta end in 2012. We've beard that before and will hopefully hear it again after 2012, but the positive spin is that even if ifs truc we stili have a couple years ta go. It was nice while it lasted. Even my youngest granddaughter is get- ting better. Shes nat quite as nice as my first grandcbild, but theres still hope. Recently she 01(1 bier aunt tbat she was going ta eut bier becad lf. -iheu ,bulied Julst ;dn Much mucer, right? Sa, ifs a new year and things are getting better. You can stili find plenty ta complain about if yau want witbout looking toa hard, but save it for another time. The recessian 15 over, we haven't been buried by snow (yet) and whatever health we have we still have. And dloser ta home, my head hasn't been cut off, sa, there~s plenty ta bie happy about. r IV ' Pl weekly 1 in-store specials 6dA,à &I EUIUY 1ST QUALITY MERCHANDISE e BRAND NAMES *Comforters and Sheets -Kitchen & Table Linen - Bed In A Bag - Bath Rugs *Decorative Cushions - Area Rugs -Slips/Sheets - Luxury Drapes *Sheet Sets *Shower Curtains - Bath Ceramnios *Licensed Hockey Bedding Si Islam~ 241 Clarence St. #, 576 Ev ans Ave. E1,AveË- i Brampton Etobicoke IL I ibeside Laserquti Wed - Sat 9:3Oam - 5pm, Sun 11lam - 5pm, Closed Mon &Tues r - -T-i-- -ouponsmust b *wnawim IZflI O ivgen to the cashie ~>at time of Pv chase I Not valid wi1h othe M O~F F discounts.
