Rick Day The Municipal Act states a council seat becomes vacant wben a councillor is absent from meetings for tbree successive months without being autborized to do so by a resolution of coulicil. Day missed counicil sessions in May and june witbout sucb a resolution. Its the fourtb time in the past 18 months that Day bas been potentially on the verge of losing bis part- time position. Tbree times in 2008 bie missed counicil for two consecutive montbs witbout a resolution but always made it to counicil in the third month. Day, wbo bas been a councillor since 1970, said bie "1absolutely" would be in attendance Monday nigbt. Asked to explain bis attendance record - counicil minutes show bie was only present for baîf of tbe 24 regular and special counLcil sessions since the begin- ning of last year - Day said hie bas been grappling with a number of personal problems.
